Upcoming Events in the Q.C.

THURSDAY, NOV. 15 Waiting with bated breath is the only way to describe the way fans of The Police will feel. The group broke up in 1984 after releasing their biggest album Synchronicity, containing the Grammy-winner "Every Breath You Take." The band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003 and named to Rolling Stone's "100 Greatest Artists of All Time" in 2004. The Reunion Tour will play through early 2008 in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their hit single "Roxanne." 7:30 p.m. $50-$90. Charlotte Bobcats Arena, 333 E. Trade St. 704-522-6500.

FRIDAY, NOV. 16 Kids love to play with toys. And when some of us get older, cars become the most exciting toys. Enter the Charlotte International Auto Show. With over $40 million worth of cars on display, this show will be sure to please automobile enthusiasts. Don't think the real kids will be bored while you're checking out the 500 plus vehicles; there are plenty of activities for them too, including a visit from Santa Claus and the chance to meet local team mascots. $8. The Charlotte Convention Center, 501 S. College St. 704-364-1078. (Meredith Kanitra)

SUNDAY, NOV. 18 Back for its fourteenth anniversary is the Carolinas' favorite salute to olden times and the way things used to be done. The hard way. But, that's enough about your childhood. This is the Carolina Renaissance Festival. In keeping with the spirit of its 16th century European origins, this noble event features a medieval amusement park, 10-stage theater (talk about your upgrades), 20-acre circus, arts and crafts fair, jousting tournament and a feast! Be sure to bow to the Queen and receive your knightly due. Last day to partake of the merriment you can only get at "RenFest." Sat & Sun, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. $6-$18. 16445 Poplar Tent Road, Huntersville, N.C. 704-869-5544.
