Daredevil, X-Force among this week's comic book reviews

As usual, I read a ton of comics this week; however, no book stood out as incredibly good or awful. So for this edition of Comic Proportions, I thought I'd (as I sometimes do) offer a few brief overviews of several titles I picked up. Here goes:

Daredevil No. 113: Writer Ed Brubaker serves up part three of his "Lady Bullseye" storyline, but nothing much happens. I think Brubaker is pacing things a little too slowly; that and I'm not very interested in the character Lady Bullseye.

X-Force No. 9: This comic reminds of old-style Marvel comic books -- in that the creators manage to pack a lot in each issue. This particular issue features the regular X-Force team, Domino, Vanisher, the Marauders (sort of), the Demon Bear (from the old New Mutants series), Ghost Rider (yes, that Ghost Rider) and more. Books like this give you your money's worth and put the final nail in the coffin of the whole "decompressed storytelling" movement.

Batman No. 681: Writer Grant Morrison wraps up the long-running "Batman R.I.P." story arc in a way that makes you say, "OK, that's the Grant Morrison I love!" The ending is a little contrived, but the rest of the book is solid.

Hulk No. 8: Great art. Awful, awful stories (there's two in this issue).

Justice Society of America: The Kingdom No. 1: Can we wrap up this storyline already?

Guardians of the Galaxy No. 7: I know folks have been sleeping on this series, but it's really, really good -- by far, one of my favorite comics every month.
