Last night, Apostrophe Lounge played host to the "Nightmare Before Christmas" fashion show, sponsored by L.A. East, Escape Hair & Skin Studio and Urbana City Spa & Tea. What a great theme for a fashion show right before the holidays. None of that warm and cuddly stuff! The makeup was smeared, the hair was all jacked up, the music -- holiday tunes mixed by DJ R Wonz -- was twisted and the clothes ... well, check them out for yourself.

Local jewelry designer Stephanie Speers will be showcasing her stuff at an exclusive jewelry party at JT Posh (2400 Park Road, Suite 2A) on Saturday from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. The saavy consignment boutique will also be having holiday sales in conjunction with the jewelry party. Call 704-375-1334 for more information.
Leave it to the retail world to turn a profit on the now famous shoe-throwing incident involving President Bush. Cafe Press, an online retailer of pop culture fads, has come up with this T-shirt depicting Bush being pelted with a shoe with the wording, "Seriously, Who throws a shoe?" The shirt comes in a range of colors, from military green to royal blue and is 100-percent cotton.
For a mere $28.99, this would be my pick for anyone who thinks Bush is an idiot. Seriously, who else would get a shoe thrown at him?

A spooky "Nightmare Before Christmas" fashion event sponsored by L.A. East, Escape Hair & Skin Studio and Urbana City Spa & Tea goes down tonight at Apostrophe Lounge. From the looks of these two ladies, I'd say this is a great event for you holiday grinches who also wear the fashionista hat.
Apostrophe Lounge is located at 1440 S. Tryon St., across from Amos' Southend. 704-371-7079. $5 for advance tickets.
No, this is not a blog for people with the uncontrollable desire to steal to congregate, share stealthy swiping techniques and gush about Wynona Ryder.
You've stumbled onto Creative Loafing's brand-new shopping blog Klepto, where retail therapy is the only kind of therapy we believe in. Well be striving to give our readers all of the shopping news and info they need: notice of sales, openings, closings; features on local shops, shop owners and our picks on items our readers might enjoy; photos from fashion shows or other shopping-related events; and much more.
With the introduction of Klepto, were hoping to fill a void for Charlotte area shoppers in the worldwide web: a Web site people can visit to find out information about shopping at independently owned stores in their very own city.
This new blog will be the ultimate stop for Charlotteans to indulge in extreme consumerism. And isn't that pretty much what a klepto does?
Recently I was helping a co-worker brainstorm ideas for a gift for his new girlfriend. Of course, my first suggestion was jewelry, because what girl wouldn't like a little bling, but he immediately shot down that idea. In fact, he shot down every suggestion I had, until I had my moment of brilliance: a piece of artwork. It takes some thought to pick out the perfect piece of art, and its message is simple: "I think you're cool."
Here are some paintings for sale at Fifteen Ten Uncommon Home Antiques. The cool thing about these colorful pieces of art is that there aren't any rock-solid prices you can make your own offer.
Oh, and by the way, everything in the store is 50 percent off.

Do you know that Christmas is NEXT week? It crept up on us, didn't it!
If you still haven't found that perfect gift or, like me, haven't started shopping yet check out the sales rack at Boris and Natasha (1214 Thomas Ave. 704-375-0079), a funky little clothing and accessories boutique in Plaza Midwood. Everything on it is $15 yes, I said $15! Owner Hope Nicholls tells me she just dropped the prices down a few days ago, and they'll stay at that price until everything on the rack is gone, which shouldn't take too long. Also, shoes on sale are all under $25.
