I love D.C. And I love when designers stray from their signature looks to mix it up a bit, as Donna Karan did for her DKNY line. She showcased her fall line Sunday.
From the Telegraph:
The streets of her beloved New York have always been an inspiration for Donna Karans DKNY collection. But, for next autumn/winter, one senses a little touch of Washington DC jostling for prominence.Neat, tailored, ladylike; jewel-colours; slim skirts and three-quarter sleeves; even a pair of green patent shoes. Could the Mo Obama effect be an influence.
This collection was far more structured and workwoman-like than the usual DKNY offering.

NY Fashion Week is in full swing, but it's kind of hard for us to keep up with all that fashion excitement knowing that IKEA is opening up tomorrow. Nonetheless, a job must be done.
Saturday, Mattel invited more than 1,000 guests to view a fashion show featuring 50 designer looks inspired by Barbie. Yes, it's the Barbie Runway Show. From WSJ.com:
The show was a celebration of all things girl, said Richard Dickson, general manager and senior vice president worldwide for Mattel, noting that it was part of an ongoing marketing campaign to strengthen Barbies relevance, especially against new dolls like the Bratz.
Unless you're living under a rock, by now you've heard that Swedish home furnishings retailer IKEA is opening up in Charlotte tomorrow morning.
It's going to be crazy. The Observer is reporting that "Charlotte transportation officials are expecting Race Day-like traffic."
WCOC-TV is reporting that people are already in line, waiting for Wednesday's grand opening.
I'm excited.
I had my first IKEA experience last year at the one in Atlanta. My friend and I walked around for over an hour, picking up random colorful things, sitting on couches, chairs, beds, opening up cabinets and drawers, sitting at tables, turning faucets ... We took complete advantage of their "strict please-touch policy."

Linda Moneta is good with play-on words. A Closet Full, her consignment shop located in the Pavilion at SouthEnd, caters to full-figured women sizes 14W-32W. The tagline for her store is also weight-related: "THIN out your closets and FATTEN your wallet by consigning your gently-worn clothing and accessories with A Closet Full."
A Closet Full has been serving plus-size Charlotte women for 17 years, with the Pavilion location its "4th and final." Moneta has moved the store on multiple occasions to try and best serve her customers, and she's found that South Boulevard is easily accessible from all areas of Charlotte.
Luca Lu's current "Goodbye" sale will last until March 14, or whenever the merchandise runs out. Clothing is 75-85% off and all jewelery has been marked down 50-70 percent.
