So, recently, two of my close friends have gotten engaged. Since things like that usually come in three's, I'm waiting for someone else to call me and tell me they're getting married.

As for me, wedding plans are far (far, far) ahead in the future, but I'm actually going to be the maid of honor in one friend's wedding. It's a good thing that I've recently started taking yoga because all the planning she and I have ahead of us is stressful. If only she were a little more decisive!

I guess that's why this upcoming event from Belk seems so timely.

On Thursday, Feb. 18, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m., Belk stores will host an "Engagement Party." The event will feature free food, entertainment, beverages and prizes. Bridal consultants will also be on hand to give advice and help couples determine what items they need for their new life together. Engaged couples will receive a Wedding Registry Planner, and those who create a Belk wedding registry or add items to an existing registry will be eligible for a $25 gift card. In addition, special displays will be set up throughout the store with vendors offering prizes and giveaways.

And I know you're curious about the prizes. Enter into drawings for  chance to win two travel vouchers for airline tickets or a cruise, $1,000 cash, two nights at the Biltmore, one 18" Akoya pearl strand (valued at $900) and more.

Register at www.belk.com and hey, congratulations!
