This past weekend, I moseyed on over to the Southern Christmas Show at The Park Expo and Conference Center (formerly Charlotte Merchandise Mart). My goal: To find holiday gifts (in particular, jewelry) for a couple of friends. In that case, I had no need to go armed with a suitcase or bag on wheels, like many of the more hardcore shopping folks.
It didn't take me long, until something caught my eye. I scooped up a few of these embroidery/petit point styled necklaces (see pic below) by Netherlands-native Joke Vandergroef. She's been doing embroidery all of her life and started putting the craft into jewelry form 35 years ago. In addition to the necklaces, she also had ear rings and bracelets for sale, as well as other items, like doilies.
The ladies at Black & Blue are always looking out for their customers, and here's another event that promises to do just that. The weather's finally starting to get colder, and now's the perfect time to find the perfect pair of jeans. Red Engine jeans are vintage-inspired, handmade in L.A.
If there's one thing that's annoying about my (fabulous) iPhone, it's that I can't do anything on it while wearing gloves. How am I supposed to keep my fingers warm and text at the same time?
Enter this genius invention by Etre, a digital communications company that leaves you kicking yourself and wondering, why didn't I think of that?
Fivepoints Gloves allow you to work any touch-screen device iPhone, a laptop, camera, portable media player, whatever and keep your hands warm.

Revolve: Upscale Mens Consignment Store has moved from its Myers Park location to the cozy neighborhood of Dilworth (1222 East Blvd.). The new location is central to a busy shopping area with more foot traffic. The boutique still offers the same merchandise: upscale mens wear including dress shirts, suits, shoes, and more, but has received a bit of a facelift with new software to catalog inventory, a more uniformed display of merchandise, and a more masculine vibe to appeal to its "manly' shoppers.
Going on now through this Saturday, the store has a big move-in sale going on: Customers can take 40 percent off items with handwritten tags and 10 percent off all items with printed tags.
According to the owner, Revolve is one of only seven mens consignment stores on the East Coast. Even so, she believes that men in the area are starting to catch on to what consignment shopping is all about since Revolve originally opened over a year ago.
The policies on bringing in consignment pieces are still the same; they are brand and condition specific. With an influx of clothing and shoes coming in, the requirements to bring in consignment pieces are becoming more strict to ensure high quality merchandise to customers.
The re-opening celebration of Revolve will be announced in the near future on Facebook, and you can also visit Revolve at www.revolvecharlotte.com.

Sad face.
Hasn't the season of me having to share with you that a store is closing passed yet? I guess not. But two places? And both shops full of those wondrous treasures of information, called books? I guess on the plus side, it's not a locally owned shop but still.
The Observer is reporting that Joseph-Beth Booksellers and Borders in the SouthPark area are closing soon.
Two of the area's highest-profile booksellers are closing, citing the weak economy and increased competition from online retailers.Joseph-Beth Booksellers, which opened at SouthPark in 2005, is shutting its doors by the end of November, the company announced today. It will hold scheduled events through this week, with most other events set for this month being moved to Park Road Books.
