Best dressed at the Oscars

Posted By on Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 2:53 PM

Last night was the Superbowl of Hollywood — the Oscars. I have to admit, though, that I was a little bored ... not only with the red carpet but the show itself. I was really looking forward to Anne Hathaway and James Franco hosting and found myself feeling sorry for them both. It was kind of an embarrassing display for these award-winning actors. The Academy should hire Billy Crystal or someone to his liking.

Enough about the award show, though — let's talk fashion! As I mentioned, I wasn't wowed by the red carpet. No one woman stood out from the rest. But here are a few looks that did manage to catch my eye.

Jennifer Lawrence in Calvin Klein

Bold colors were a big hit on the carpet, along with the minimalistic look. This red scoop dress is form-fitting and has an understated sexiness about it. Jennifer Lawrence really looks stunning.

Hailee Steinfield in Marchesa

Isn't Hailee just adorable (as she was in the Golden Globes)! Her flesh-colored dress is age-appropriate and perfect for her. What I think is the best part of this look is that she sketched this dress for Marchesa and they created it for her. Definitely a fashion designer in the making.

Mandy Moore in Monique Lhuillier

Can you believe this is Mandy Moore? She looks like an A-lister. This Monique Lhuillier is perfect for the red carpet and looks amazing on Mandy. The only thing I would change about this look is her severe pulled back hair. It is a little too tight for this light and flowing look.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Calvin Klein

It definitely was a night for Calvin Klein because the women who wore the CK label looked flawless. This gown is dripping with metallic beauty. This is what Melissa Leo was going for at the SAG Awards. Gwyneth looks like California perfection.
