Monkee's of Lake Norman is hosting another fabulous trunk show this week. BCBG is the perfect designer label when you are on the hunt for a party dress or great summer pieces. A rep from the designer will be at the store from 12 p.m.-7 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, May 10. Stop by on your lunch break or after work. Orders will be taken for the fall collection and items from spring and summer will be available to purchase and take home with you! What a great mid-week treat for yourself. So mark your calendar and get on over to Monkee's of Lake Norman (624 Jetton St. Suite 130).
Jumping the Broom premieres today in theaters nationwide, and I had the honor of hosting a StyleMayvin fashionable meeting of the minds with about 18 attendees in conjunction with a private screening of the movie on Wednesday evening.
I love an exclusive premiere, don't you? All of the women and men in attendance were some of Charlotte's most fashionable folks. From writers, bloggers, designers, makeup artisits, event planners and more, this group had tons to talk about style-wise as it relates to the movie. And ... to top it all off, we were able to enjoy the screening courtesy of JONES Magazine, a national fashion publication that always keeps its readers on trend. Some of my favorite looks were worn by the stars of the movie Angela Bassett, Paula Patton and Megan Goode. These ladies look super hot on the silver screen and the bride's wedding dress was breathtaking. Ladies, it's wedding season and I'm sure you'll get a lot of inspiration from this film. So, make plans to dress up, gather your stilettos and see this fabulous movie with some of your closest friends.

I'm still in OMG mode. I had the awesome and exclusive opportunity to capture behind the scenes of the Oscar de la Renta fashion show in Charlotte, that took place on Friday, April 29 at the Mint Museum. Although we didn't capture the man behind the brand (Oscar de la Renta himself) on video, he was in attendance and I will be sharing pictures from the actual fall collection runway show very soon. We did, however, speak with the people who made the event a reality, as well as the models, lead make-up artist and hair stylist. Thank you to everyone who made this StyleMayvin exclusive a reality and one of the best evenings of my fashion career. Enjoy!

On Friday, May 6, the Fashion Society at Johnson & Wales is hosting its 6th annual Spring Fashion Show.
The event is an AIDS benefit show and will include a silent auction during intermission. Expect to see looks from boutiques and designers such as Revolution, Francesca's at Southpark, Ethan & Zoey, Vintage Copycat, and ElleVJ strut down the catwalk.
The show takes place from 7 p.m.- 9 p.m. at the Gateway Center Promenade. For more information, e-mail Christian Riley, president of the Fashion Society, at cjr428@students.jwu.edu.
When can you see a fashion show featuring a local boutique and support a good cause? You can with the 2nd Annual Catwalk for a Cause, presented by Lavendar Boutique, which will raise money for the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation. If you remember last year's Catwalk for a Cause, this year is promised to be even better!
Before we talk fashion, let's talk about the foundation: The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation is dedicated to working with nonprofit organizations with limited name recognition and limited budgets, who strive to positively impact the lives of children in need.
On May 17, from 6 p.m.-9 p.m., the Martin Truex Jr. Motorsports (156 Cayuga Drive in Mooresville, NC) will be transformed into an extravagant evening filled with fashion, delicious food, raffle, and silent auction featuring designer pieces. Lavendar Boutique will feature designers for your spring/summer wardrobe. For the music lover in your life, other items on auction include a signed Justin Bieber electric guitar and Taylor Swift acoustic guitar. As an added bonus to the already fabulous evening, guests will receive a swag bag who doesn't love swag?
Though the Trendsetter tickets are already sold out, there are still tickets available at the Fashionista level for $75! Don't miss out on this incredible evening of fashion and charity. You will not regret it.
Tickets are available online at martintruexjrfoundation.org or by phone at 704-664-1113.
Love pinks, greens, bright colors and patterns? Need a few pieces (or just inspiration) that will be the color pop your wardrobe needs? Then you need to clear your calendar for this Wednesday, May 4. Monkees of Lake Norman will be hosting a Lilly Pulitzer trunk show, where you will be able to view the entire collection and special order sizes and colors. What better way to spend a Wednesday evening than being surrounded by beautiful bright colors. With a range of new arrivals, nothing will make your wardrobe say summer is here, like a dress or a pair of bright green shorts ... and nothing makes the pretty girl inside us scream more than a piece by Lilly Pulitzer.
Due to the fact that I had to stalk Usher Saturday night, I was not able to attend Fashion Soul. Ultra sad face, I know! Luckily, my photographer went and I've been drooling over the photos. Now you can, too. Here are some of my favorite shots (and check out the rest of the photos on our QC After Dark nightlife photo site) and congratulations to all who showcased.
