Odds and ends

A few miscellaneous items:

A bill that would make North Carolina a comprehensive sex-ed state may actually make it to a full House vote. Advocates say it would greatly improve the current abstinence-only curriculum that's offered in most counties; opponents say it would lead to more risky behavior among teens.

Last November, Creative Loafing wrote about Summer Lipford's quest to know more about her son's death in Iraq. Lipford's putting together a Memorial Day peace vigil in Statesville to commemorate fallen troops. (Full disclosure: Since the story ran, I've become friends with her and plan to help.)
