For those who haven't heard, Warner Home Video announced a few weeks ago that it's finally releasing the long-awaited Blade Runner comprehensive DVD set.
As one of the first titles available in the then-spanking-new format, director Ridley Scott's 1982 sci-fi masterpiece has long been available on disc only in a bare-bones Director's Cut edition released in 1997. Now, after years of preparation, Scott and numerous others have put together Blade Runner: The Final Cut, which will include never-been-seen sequences, new visual effects (hardly needed, IMO), director commentary, and more.
Blade Runner: The Final Cut will be released December 18 in three different editions: a Two-Disc Special Edition, a Four-Disc Collector's Edition and a Five-Disc Ultimate Collector's Edition. The Four- and Five-Disc sets will also include the original theatrical version (featuring Harrison Ford's noirish narration), the 1982 international version and the 1992 director's cut. The Five-Disc edition will also include the rare workprint version.
