Gear up in your Underarmor and lace up those sneakers -- it's time for the running of the doughnuts.
Yep, that's right. It's the annual Krispy Kreme Challenge on February 7. The student-operated race begins at NC State's Bell Tower, up in Raleigh. From there, run 2 miles to the Krispy Kreme store on Peach Street. At the store, you must inhale a dozen doughnuts. Once you're done and are on a sugar high, run the 2 miles back. All under 1 hour.
According to my calculations, you will be scarfing down 2,400 calories and 144 grams of fat at the KK pit stop. A 150 lb. person running 4 miles will burn 391.8 calories.
2,400 calories eaten - 391.8 calories burned = A total of 2,008.2 calories. It takes 3,500 calories to gain 1 lb., so it's ok, go for it! Just watch those arteries now...
Proceeds from the race will benefit NC Childrens Hospital.
