The Spook Who Sat by the Door, a controversial 1973 effort from director Ivan Dixon (who passed away last year here in Charlotte, where he had made his home), will be screened at 7 p.m. next Monday, Feb. 9, at the Neighborhood Theatre. Admission is free, and the evening will also include a Q&A session with Ivan's daughter, Doris Nomathande Dixon. The film, recently selected as one of the "50 Most Influential Black Films" (in the book of the same name), centers on an African-American CIA member who uses his training to stage a revolution.

Before emerging as a successful director, Dixon co-starred as Kinch on the popular TV sitcom Hogan's Heroes.
