It's time to go out for an artsy evening around town. Today (Fri., April 3) a handful of new art exhibitions are opening in Charlotte at a variety of galleries, including Dialect Gallery, Providence Gallery, The Art House, Lark & Key Gallery and Boutique and Elder Gallery. Gentrify Me art exhibition, a group art show (photo above) - featuring 11 artists, including Antoine Williams, Creative Loafing photographer Jasiatic and more - aimed at presenting various perspectives on urban decay and neighborhood redevelopment will have its opening reception at 6 p.m. at Dialect Gallery. The exhibition continues through April 30.
Color Perspectives exhibition, which includes new paintings (see photo of one above) by Charlotte clothier, philanthropist and painter Paul Simon will have its opening reception from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Providence Gallery. The exhibition continues through April 30.
uS exhibition, featuring mixed media works (see a photo above) by Brent Bumgarner and Chris Johnson will have its opening reception at The Art House. The exhibition will continue through May 1.
Short Fictions exhibition by Cara Ober and featured potter Barbara Chadwick-Bland's (see photos above of works by Ober and Bland) works will be on display at Lark & Key Gallery through April 26. The exhibition's opening reception is tonight from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at Lark & Key Gallery.
Paintings, Etchings and Drawings exhibition (see photos above of works by Makielski and Plansky) will have its opening reception tonight from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Elder Gallery. It consists of two parts: From Budapest to New York, featuring oil paintings by abstract expressionist artist Carl Plansky, and Etchings and Drawings, featuring works from the early 1930s by Leon A. Makielski. The exhibition runs through April 28.
