We've been amazed and amused by the antics within the Republican Party lately, particularly the miniature civil war that has broken out between the GOP's right-wing flamethrowers and its "moderates" (who, incidentally, are still to the right of Reagan on most issues). It's bad enough that former Homeland Security head Tom Ridge says the GOP has become "too doggone shrill," after he was deemed too liberal to run against Arlen Specter in 2010 by the party's wingnut faction.
The big news now is that Joe the Plumber, or more accurately, Samuel Wurzelbacher the Non-Plumber who became a symbol of the party during the McCain campaign is quitting the GOP. Mighty Joe's defection comes a few days after he made news, and echoed his party's unofficial, real-life position, by saying that he would never let "queers" near his children an assertion that even conservative personality Elizabeth Hasselbeck of The View described as "an ignoramus statement."
So, as the party loses one more member, we suppose they will have to photoshop, or re-shoot, the family portrait, offered by driftglass.com and shown above, featuring (left to right) Michelle Malkin, Joe the Plumber, Ann Coulter, Rupert Murdoch, Rush Limbaugh, Brit Hume, and Glenn Beck.
