CHARLOTTE, NC The Blumenthal Performing Arts Center is excited to announce the upcoming launch of its second online auction, which runs June 12 - 27, 2009. It offers a fresh new way to support the Centers arts and education programs while getting the chance to bid on an impressive array of interesting items.
Forget Sotheby's, Christie's or even eBay: the best, most exciting items up for bid can be found at the Blumenthal. The online auction will feature everything from arts memorabilia to luxury travel packages; business services to health and beauty treatments; and show tickets to weekend getaways. It will have something for everyone! Most importantly, 100% of proceeds support the Centers nationally recognized arts and education programs that serve thousands of students and families throughout the region.
Last fall, hundreds of people across the nation took part in the Centers inaugural auction by bidding on unique items. This virtual event helped raise more than $10,000. The auction proved to be an effective fundraising tool, providing a unique opportunity to use the internet to raise support while keeping costs at a minimum. Consequently, the Center more than doubled the auction goal for this summers innovative and cost-effective fundraiser. The auction is a critical component of the Centers annual fund, explained President Tom Gabbard, the funds raised through the auction ensure that our school and community-based arts education programs reach as many students and families as possible and enable them to experience the magic of the performing arts.
For bidders, this cause-conscious shopping opportunity features fantastic deals and unique packages that are only available during a limited two-week bidding period (June 12-27). For companies and individuals, the auction proves to be a wonderful way to promote products and services to an active and engaged community of arts patrons through the free item listing.
The auction committee volunteers help the Center bring in the best and most exciting auction items. This year the committee members are: Renee Baumbach, Marsha Bradley, Melinda Burgess, Caroline McDowell, Katie Russell, Wendy Schmidly and Hal Walker. Were very appreciative of all the incredible packages our supporters provided, said volunteer Katie Russell., auction committee volunteer. The online auction is a great way for everyone to get involved in supporting the arts.
