The wraps are finally off the big scheduling scoops at the NC Blumenthal Performing Arts Center. Our PAC contacts gave us the green light last night to dis-embargo the news that Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre will be settling into the new Knight Theater for their longest-ever run in Charlotte, starting on Tuesday, February 9, and continuing through Sunday, February 14, 2010.

Another giant of the contemporary dance world keeps the Knight sizzling next spring as The Parsons Dance Company stages an extended siege of their own, beginning on Thursday, March 25, and extending through Sunday, March 28, 2010. Quite an intoxicating first year for dance-o-holics at the Knight, where our own NC Dance Theatre takes residence next January 8 in a special Light the Knight Gala.

Gala or not, the PAC will be taking the wraps off the Knight months before NC Dance performs their first plié there. Steve Martin, the comical King Tut of the Banjo, will be teaming up with the Steep Canyon Rangers bluegrass combo on October 10 – with tickets going on sale for Martin/banjo/bluegrass fanatics on August 14 at 10am.
