Wanna go to Raleigh? I do. In fact, I'm hopping on a bus with other clean water advocates on June 23 for a road trip with the Catawba Riverkeeper, David Merryman. I see it as my chance to talk to the legislators I helped elect, and others I've spoken to on the phone or via e-mail, about issues affecting our water and our community.
From the Riverkeeper's website:
This event is organized by the NC Watershed Alliance and there will be citizens from all over the state meeting with their legislators about water issues on June 23. This is your opportunity to join with other watershed protection organizations and concerned citizens from across the state to speak up to protect and conserve our water resources. Clean Water Lobby Day gives us the opportunity to educate our legislators about the need for strong water protections. This is a fun and educational event, so make sure to bring your friends and family. No prior knowledge about North Carolina legislation is required. The N.C. Watershed Alliance will provide a briefing on pending legislation and Catawba Riverkeeper David Merryman will be available to answer questions about the impact of proposed legislation on the Catawba basin.

Other organizations, like the North Carolina Conservation Network are also attending the event and looking for volunteers to join them.
