The return of P.J. Brunson, playing for a cause

Posted By on Mon, Aug 23, 2010 at 2:40 PM

Longtime Charlotte music lovers and readers of CL know P.J. Brunson. P.J., a pianist/guitarist/singer/songwriter, performed for some time, primarily in the '90s, with a variety of partners, most notably in the duo P.J. & Marisa. These days Brunson is helping raise funds for Hospice & Palliative Care, with her musical partner, violinist Laurie Neal. The two formed the musical group Ananda (“perfect bliss” in Sanskrit), and have recorded an album titled Still Waters, with a portion of the proceeds going to help support Hospice. The album is a collection of piano-and-violin duos, mostly written by Brunson, performed in a New Age style, although that label doesn’t do justice to the calm beauty and melodic gifts evinced in the music. It’s well worth your time and money, and you’ll be contributing to one of the worthiest of worthy causes. You can find the album by clicking here.
