VIDEO (plus a review): Official Green Lantern trailer

Geek alert: Check out the official trailer for the Green Lantern movie (based on the DC Comics superhero series). Watch it now before YouTube yanks it. (Not too sure about this flick y'all ...):

Watched it? OK, here are a few quick thoughts about this trailer:

• I'm a little afraid that this movie will really suck. First off there's waaaaaayyyyyyy too much CGI. I mean, I know this is a sci-fi flick, but did they really need to use a CGI parachute (when "Hal" ejected from his jet)?

• Also, the opening scene with the woman in bed and the cheesy music? Yeah, haven't seen that before.

• The actress playing Carol Ferris seems incredibly stiff. Just check out her scene with Ryan in the locker room — she's damned near emotionless.

• The alien in the wrecked ship — Abin Sur — who goes on the give Hal his ring looks a little too bright. In fact, I think several things are too bright in this trailer ... like Hal's mask. It's, like, lime green.

• The planet Oa looks really fake ... sort of like a video game.

• Hector Hammond as one of the film's villains? Hector is laaaaaaaaaame. Here's what he looks like in the comics:

HectorHammond

I know Green Lantern has a lot of lame villains, but there's no way you can make this guy look anything but laughable.

• The scene near the end with the helicopter crashing ... folks, this is Green Lantern. Cosmic. Universe-spanning stuff. And a helicopter-crashing scene makes it into the movie? How about a giant meteor smashing into some buildings or something? Think big!

I could go on and on, but that's enough I guess. I'm worried. Your thoughts?
