Forbidden fruit: Gallagher to perform

Posted By on Fri, Mar 4, 2011 at 1:16 PM

You can leave your ponchos at home, as there’s no flying fruit in this show. Gallagher may be retired from using his sledgehammer to smash watermelons, but that isn’t stopping him from swinging through Charlotte and the surrounding area — with stops to McGlohon Theatre (on Mon., March 7) and The Comedy Zone Lake Norman (on Tues., March 8) — on his latest stand-up tour. With more than 30 years under his belt, his new material touches on politics, old age, bodily functions and other random observations. Just don’t make him mad by talking during his set or he really might blow a gasket. Adult language and content. March 7: $25. 7:30 p.m. McGlohon Theatre, 345 N. College St. 704-372-1000. www.blumenthalcenter.org. March 8: $25. 8 p.m. The Comedy Zone Lake Norman at Galway Hooker, 17044 Kenton Drive, Cornelius. 704-621-6373. www.lkncomedyzone.com.
