Study: Carolina Panthers have least-loyal fanbase

A study conducted by Harvard's College Sports Analysis Collective shows the Carolina Panthers have the least-loyal fanbase of all NFL teams. Since TV ratings are historically not released to the public, the study, analyzed by, took into account Facebook "likes" to measure NFL-team popularity.

According to Deadspin writer Ben Blatt:

Although three teams rank below them, the Carolina Panthers appear to have the least loyal fanbase. The Redskins, Raiders, and Jets all have other teams within 50 miles of their stadium and therefore share a fanbase. The Panthers' closest competitors are the Atlanta Falcons who play over 240 miles away from Charlotte.

Team owner Jerry Richardson recently asked the state and Charlotte to help fund a $250 million stadium-renovation project.
