A study conducted by Harvard's College Sports Analysis Collective shows the Carolina Panthers have the least-loyal fanbase of all NFL teams. Since TV ratings are historically not released to the public, the study, analyzed by deadspin.com, took into account Facebook "likes" to measure NFL-team popularity.
According to Deadspin writer Ben Blatt:
Although three teams rank below them, the Carolina Panthers appear to have the least loyal fanbase. The Redskins, Raiders, and Jets all have other teams within 50 miles of their stadium and therefore share a fanbase. The Panthers' closest competitors are the Atlanta Falcons who play over 240 miles away from Charlotte.
Team owner Jerry Richardson recently asked the state and Charlotte to help fund a $250 million stadium-renovation project.

What a BS statement (and title for the article.) And as for the "study," wow, they really went in depth to determine the fan bases' "loyalty" (the author's words, not mine) based off of Facebook "Likes." As a life long Panther fan, I'm insulted by the article & the so called "study." It couldn't have taken more than ten minutes to complete, b/c all they really did was make it a popularity contest. And yet somehow, even though "three teams rank below them" according to the title of the article the Panthers have the "least loyal fan base."
Study at Harvard...the same place that has the second Highest rate of student suicides?..Where and how was this so called study conducted? cause I was not asked..and yea as if it really makes sense putting sports statistics in the Hands of the Nerds, geeks, and depressed people to determine who probably don't even watch football ..I've seen fans that were way less loyal than Carolina and also was this study conducted after Carolina got Cam Newton?.. cause with all the hype around him, then not getting the super bowl ring after a few seasons of course fake bandwagon football fans are not going to want to wait around, They already moved on to Baltimore and will be gone from there too after next season . Psh..Epic fail of an article..Harvard just take your thumb out your ass..LOL
