Every Time I Die at Amos' Southend tonight (02/28/13)

Every Time I Die

Lumped in with just about every screaming Warped Tour band out there, Every Time I Die separates itself with a bit more of a melodic approach to its heavy-handed metal. The Buffalo, N.Y., band works in elements of mathcore, Southern rock and the blues as it churns out punishing rhythms in song after song. A handful of bass player changes hasn't slowed down the band a bit over the years - after all, singer Keith Buckley's vocals are the driving force. Buckley had a brief stint with The Damned Things - joining forces with Anthrax and Fall Out Boy members - but with that band on hiatus, his focus returns to ETID. He's got the tone to be soothing while his powerful, guttural screams are some of the strongest in the genre. Sit back while watching a live show and you'll wonder who is more active - the fans in the pit or the constantly-in-motion band on stage. With The Acacia Strain, Vanna, Hundredth and No Bragging Rights. $16-$18. Feb. 28, 6:30 p.m. Amos' Southend, 1423 S. Tryon St. 704-377-6874.
