Pegi Young & The Survivors

Let's call it like it is. If Pegi Young didn't have a famous husband named Neil, a large number of people wouldn't take notice of her. She's working to change minds, though. Her latest album Bracing for Impact is filled with a mix of rock, alt-country and folk, over which Young's soulful voice commands the spotlight. There are enough bright spots to let you know she's not simply riding Neil's coattails and that there's potential for her and the band to "bring it" in a live setting. And, if there's anything to be said for the company you keep, joining Young on the road will be Spooner Oldham, Rick Rosas and Phil Jones - known for their work with Neil - - and Kelvin Holly, longtime guitarist for Little Richard. $15-$18. April 2, 8 p.m. Double Door Inn, 1218 Charlottetowne Ave. 704-376-1446.
