Music Menu Classical Idol playing McGlohon Theater tonight (4/12/13)

Ignore the name and instead focus on the fact that this second annual event is a benefit for the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and youth music education. This friendly competition allows a variety of musicians to showcase their talents while sharing their stories about the impact of music on themselves and the community. Among the performers are Celtic violinist Jamie Laval (last year's winner), trumpet player Rich Harris, the Winterfield Elementary Youth Orchestra and Chandler Fadero of the Charlotte Symphony Youth Orchestra. $60-$125. April 12, 7:30 p.m. McGlohon Theater, 345 N. College St. 704-972-2000.
