2013 and all that jazz

Posted By on Fri, Jan 3, 2014 at 8:54 AM

If you're just opening your eyes to the Charlotte scene in 2014, I can already tell you something about it - there's going to be plenty more jazz from big-name artists.

For once, the jazz year in Charlotte will not be put to shame by the jazz lineup at Spoleto Festival USA - partly because a Spotlight on Spoleto program on January 17 at the Mint Museum brings us Spoleto headliner René Marie to kick off our roster of topnotch attractions.

In honor of the new order, I thought it would be nice to step up my own jazz coverage at the Loaf, previewing the delights to come and summing up the year gone by. First, I'm looking back, fortifying the Top 10 I contributed to JazzTimes with a Top 25 and an equally long roll call of sumptuous also-rans. Happy, jazzy New Year, and enjoy!
