Going out in Charlotte doesn't have to be expensive. In fact, to prove that statement, we've compiled a list of cheap things to do in the Q.C. this weekend. These events may vary, but they're all entertaining and they won't break your bank (piggy banks excluded).

There will be raffles at 10 p.m., 11 p.m., and 12 a.m. for a sundress, shirt, and sandals. Free admission. April 4, 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Sip, 200 North Tryon St. 704-334-3315. www.sipcharlotte.com.

There's an Elvis Presley tribute contest, too. $10 for adults; Free for children 13 years old and under. April 4-5, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; April 6, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. 5555 Concord Parkway South. 704-455-3200. www.charlottemotorspeedway.com.

Family First: Antoine Williams, Artist at Work at Harvey B. Gantt Center: Antoine Williams will discuss what it means to be an artist. He will share his inspirations, demonstrate his techniques, and lead a special art workshop. Free for Gantt Center members; Free with museum admission for non-members. April 5, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts + Culture, 551 South Tryon St. 704-547-3700. www.ganttcenter.org.

The Scarlet Empress at the Main Library: This 1934 drama about the life of Catherine the Great screens as part of the Main Library's "Classic Films from 1934" series. Free admission. April 5, 2 p.m. Main Library, 310 N. Tryon St.

Pops Party at King of Pops' Patio: King of Pops wants to celebrate the coming of spring (finally!). During the party and grand opening of KoP's new patio there will be a special beer pop release. Cheers to that! April 6, 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Pop Patio, 421 E. 26th St. http://charlotte.kingofpops.net.
