First Drip First Drip (8/18/14): Bidding war for Family Dollar wages, chaos reigns in Ferguson, more

Low-cost retailers are in an all-out bidding war for Charlotte-based Family Dollar. Dollar General has offered about $10 billion, slightly more than Dollar Tree's $8.5 billion, all in an effort to beef up business against competitors like WalMart.
Chaos reigned in Ferguson, Missouri, over the weekend after the governor called in the National Guard. Some observers say the crowd protesting 18-year-old Michael Brown's death threw Molotov cocktails and shot at police. Others widely dispute such claims. An autopsy shows Brown was shot six times by police.
After the press reported he has suffered heart and lung complications during his confinement, Wikileaks founder Julian Assange says he will leave the Ecuadorian embassy in London he has called home for two years. The company's spokesman declined to say where Assange would go next. Authorities in Sweden want to question him over alleged sexual assault claims.
