First Drip (10/9/14): Harrisburg councilman allegedly involved in shooting, 28 bodies found in Mexico, more

Police were called to the home of a town councilman in a northeast suburb of Charlotte after a shooting. Phil Cowherd III has been a councilman in Harrisburg for 15 years and elected mayor pro-tem twice. The name of the victim has not been released.

Two scientists have been awarded the Nobel Prize for medicine for discovering the system in the brain that tells us where we are and where we're going, otherwise known as our GPS. John O'Keefe and May-Britt and Edvard Moser, a couple, won $1.1 million.

Twenty eight charred bodies believed to be missing students were found in a mass grave outside a town in southern Mexico. The students were protesting hiring practices when police opened fire. They went missing in late September. It will take weeks to identify the bodies.
