Janice Covington Allison, a transgender woman who spoke at Monday night's City Council meeting in favor of passing the nondiscrimination ordinance, shared her story of being approached by a police officer when she was using the ladies restroom at Government Center with the Observer. "I was in shock. I asked her, ‘Am I being arrested?’ When we walked out the door, there were 20 people standing there, eyeballing me and pointing at me, and it was clear they were talking about me.”

Retired Army General David Petraeus, who shared classified information with his then biographer/mistress Paula Broadwell, agreed to a plea deal with federal prosecutors to avoid jail time.

Charlotte's considering bidding on hosting the college football championship in a few years. To that, I'll say: Goooo Bulldogs! (Georgia, that is.)

Ben Carson, a possible Republican candidate for president in 2016, says being gay is "absolutely" a choice, attributing his logic to the notion that a lot of people go into prison straight and come out gay.
