The Charlotte Independence, the city's semi-professional soccer team, and investors began planning construction of the county-owned Ramblewood Soccer Complex on Thursday. A world-class paralympian who lives in Charlotte is asking the public for help finding his missing prosthetic legs. Someone broke into Paul Peterson's apartment on Wednesday afternoon and stole the prosthetic legs he uses to train and compete for races after losing his right leg as a teenager following a motorcycle accident. Peterson uses different feet, or blades, for different races and each blade costs between $4,000 and $6,000. The thief stole three blades.

Today is National Donut Day and some Charlotte-area shops are offering free donuts or great deals. Krispy Kreme locations are offering a free donut of any flavor to each customer with no purchase required. Dunkin' Donuts will be offering a free donut with any beverage purchase and is unveiling two new flavors: Chips Ahoy! Creme and Chips Ahoy! Crunch.
