News Lunch Break (12/10/15): Police ask for public's help in finding missing woman

Police are asking for help locating a Charlotte woman who has been missing for a week now. According to a press release, family members called police Sunday to tell them that they hadn't seen 45-year-old Cynthia Boza since last Thursday evening, when she left her west Charlotte home driving a gold Ford Taurus with the tag DBA-1886. Boza has medical issues and her family is concerned with her safety. She is said to frequent the Concord area in Cabarrus County. Boza is a white female who is 5-feet-4-inches tall and weighs 125 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair. (Ryan Pitkin)
A rash of hit-and-run wrecks has snarled traffic throughout Charlotte this morning. Police responded to hit-and-runs on West W.T. Harris Boulevard at I-85, East Independence Boulevard at Briar Creek Road and Beatties Ford Road at McIlwaine Road. (Joe Marusak, Charlotte Observer)
A shootout between a robbery suspect and police in Taylor, South Carolina, early this morning ended with a deputy being shot in the head and the suspect killed. A man reportedly opened fire on deputies with the Greenville Sheriff's Office when they forced their way into an apartment while looking for him at about 1 a.m. The deputy who was hit was undergoing surgery this morning and is expected to recover. Police have arrested a 21-year-old woman who was wanted for the November 21 robbery of a GAP store in the Arboretum. Ariel Terry was allegedly one of three people who stormed the store with guns drawn that day and robbed employees and customers. Police released Terry's name as a suspect last Friday, and she was taken into custody yesterday. She has been charged with robbery, second-degree kidnapping and robbery with a dangerous weapon, among other things. No one else has been arrested in connection with the robbery. A man died in police custody after being pepper sprayed and handcuffed in Winston-Salem, according to police. Police responded to a call about a discharged firearm and reportedly found Travis Nevelle Page to be the one responsible. Page allegedly struggled with police, who pepper sprayed him and then got him into handcuffs. Soon thereafter, Page became unresponsive. He was later pronounced dead at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. (WBTV Web Staff)
