A meeting between management, student tenants and their parents at an apartment complex near UNC Charlotte that's seen multiple recent shootings on the property became heated last night, ending with students storming out after feeling like their concerns were not being met. Many of the students who attended the meeting at University House apartment complex were reportedly requesting to have their leases terminated after two recent shootings and dozens of criminal complaints over the span of five months. University House management said they would be contacting students individually about their concerns. (Scott Wickersham, WSOC)

Jeremy Lin and Kemba Walker stepped up in the absence of a couple starters last night to lead the Charlotte Hornets to a 10-point overtime win. With Al Jefferson serving a suspension and Andrew Batum at home sick, Lin and Walker combined for 62 points in a 109-99 victory over the Toronto Raptors. The Hornets improved to 15-10 on the season, and are seen as a viable playoff contender. (Rick Bonnell, Charlotte Observer)
