Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band

The Deal: "The Boss" returns to the Queen City and rocks it for two-and-a-half hours.

The Good: The show opened with a video tribute to Danny Federici. It then went into a mix of old and new — If you're a fan of his latest album, Magic, you would have known a good part of last night's set — seven songs came from the disc. The entire band appeared to enjoy themselves during every minute of the show and the brotherhood was apparent through arms around each other all night long. Nils Lofgren shredded his solo in "Prove It All Night" — using his thumb-picking style and copious amounts of wah-wah. Lofgren wasn't the only one to show off their skills as Bruce found plenty of opportunities to shine as well. Springsteen also found time to connect with the younger kids in the crowd, pulling one girl up to dance with him during the "Dancing in the Dark" part of the encore. He also showed a sign that said, "I like U Way Better than Hannah Montana" before playing "Darlington County." He later autographed the sign and handed it back to the girl — after pulling her up on stage and having her sing the chorus.

The Bad: I never realized how much "Na na na na na na"'s were in his songs until the concert — there were plenty of them to go around.

The Verdict: A fantastic performance by a legend of rock 'n' roll. Nothing too flashy or fancy...just as rock should be. You could easily see why he's had such a successful career. It's music that lasts, not music of the moment.
