Rascal Flatts with Taylor Swift
Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre
Aug. 3, 2008
The Deal: The Home of the $11 beer hosted another country concert-party - this time the headlining hosts were Rascal Flatts and special guest Taylor Swift.
The Good: Taylor Swift. She looked like an angel on stage, and with only a little help from the spotlights luminating off her disco ball sparkly dress. Her show consisted of a lot of hair flipping and microphone stand twirling to accent her songs that make her sound like an angry teenager. She did give a disclaimer however, I love North Carolinians. Theyre some of the nicest people Ive ever met. Generally, Im nice too. But if you break my heart, well then, Im going to have to write a song about you. Cue Picture to Burn.
I actually confused part of her set with Stomp because her and her fiddle player did a trashcan drumming routine. And to further add to her cultural country eclecticness, her band consisted of punk rockers.
Oh yeah, and Rascal Flatts were great too.
The Bad: Rascal Flatts did as much talking as singing. Considering they have so many good songs to select a set list from, so many in fact if they sang them all the concert would last all night, they definitely couldve afforded to sing more. The lawn was sold out and people were in line hours before the concert in order to hold down a perimeter on the lawn closest to the stage. Did I mention that Verizon charges $11 for a beer? Now thats bad.
The Verdict: Can someone tell me why they wanted to play hip-hop between sets at a country concert?
