No Doubt with Paramore, The Sounds

The Deal: Reunited No Doubt hit Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre with Paramore and The Sounds in tow.
The Good: The show opened with a brief set by Sweden's The Sounds who infuse an '80s pop sensibility into its sound. The band definitely had energy as singer Maja Ivarsson kicked and danced her way around the stage. They played a few songs from their latest album, Crossing the Rubicon, which was released on June 2.
Paramore drew a huge round of applause — and screams — as they hit the stage and launched into their hit single, "Misery Business." Singer Hayley Williams was all over the place as she jumped, ran, headbanged and did her best to get the crowd pumped up during the band's 45-minute set.
The main draw of the night was the reunited No Doubt who had the crowd singing along for the duration of its set. With a massive screen behind a white stage, the white-clad members of the band had no problem getting the crowd on its feet. Singer Gwen Stefani sounded — and looked — in fine form as she danced her way around the stage for the entire hour-and-a-half set. No lip synching here!
Bassist Tony Kanal found plenty of time to jump around on his own...
The band hit the stage to "Spiderwebs" an followed it up with the funky "Hella Good." At times the backdrop showed simple patterns or colors, but there were also moments of video from the early days of the band.
Stefani headed off stage for the instrumental "Guns of Navaronne" before returning in a shiny jumpsuit and black tights outfit reminiscent of her solo tour wardrobe. She also found time to share a brief story about her run-in with a black snake before the show.
Overall, the band appeared to have unending energy and soaked in every moment of applause from the packed amphitheatre.
The Bad: There really aren't any complaints. No Doubt's set was a greatest hits list with not too many change-ups or surprises. Also, it's no surprise that Stefani found plenty of time for a few costume changes. While the band had been playing its Adam Ant cover "Stand and Deliver" at recent shows, it was left off the setlist here. Also a bit sad that they're playing pretty much the same setlist every night. Why not change it up at least a little bit...?
The Verdict: No Doubt proved that fans still want them around and Paramore showed why they're one of the hottest new bands on the scene.
