THE GATHERING House music heads rarely get a chance to stretch their legs in Charlotte... which makes this event — The Gathering — so special. A gaggle of DJs — AGdaDred, Tre Damit, DJ Rsenal, Badala B, Gary "Jackmaster" Wallace, and DJ BE — are joining forces to treat Q.C. audiences to those classic thumping rhythms and soulful sounds. GEORGE DUKE Where would music be today without the synthesizer? Seriously. Duke was one of the pioneers of the instrument and has steadily kicked out albums almost annually since the mid-'60s Probably best known as a pianist, his jazz records with his trio and collaborations with artists like Frank Zappa and Al Jarreau have secured his place in modern jazz.
