Voltaire's Tom Waits-esque tunes tonight (9/28/11)

Posted By on Wed, Sep 28, 2011 at 7:00 AM

Voltaire Aurelio Voltaire Hernandez — musician, filmmaker, author — has woven an amalgam of carnival music, gypsy rhythms, New Orleans jazz and cabaret into his recording, Riding a Black Unicorn. Voltaire takes cues from Tom Waits, and though not as musically adventurous, his compositions are nonetheless intriguing. The accordion, horns and rhythm section are in tune, ably setting the proper mood. With Hellblinki, and This Way to the Egress. $8-$10. The Milestone. www.themilestoneclub.com.
