International Scar Lovers set for debut performance

There's no music to be heard online yet, but if a lineup says anything about potential, this band's definitely one to keep an ear out for. International Scar Lovers will make their first on-stage appearance on Sunday, July 6, at Snug Harbor.

The group is comprised of Robert Childers (Luciferian Agenda, Overmountain Men, 2013 Wolves), Wyley Buck Boswell (Luciferian Agenda, Hectagons, Andy the Doorbum), Travis Phillips (Modern Primitives) and Phillip Gripper (Modern Primitives). Guests include Andy the Doorbum and Korey Dudley (Hectagons).

In a Facebook conversation about the show and album, Boswell said International Scar Lovers perform a mixture of original and cover songs, though "none of the covers sounds like the original, at all." The band has recorded versions of Erykah Badu's "Soldier," Desmond Dekker's "Dracula," The Slickers "Johnny Too Bad," Sean Nicholas Savage's "Darkness" and a Revolutionary War-era song titled "Katie Cruel." A debut album is planned for release later this year.

The performance is scheduled as part of Crowd Surfer Sunday, which is a free potluck hangout that includes DJs, live music and vendors. So, bring a dish and enjoy the music.
