I woke up this morning to a phone call from a relative saying, "I can't stand Adam. He screams in every song and his tongue sticks out like a panting puppy when he does it..."
I couldn't agree more. Seriously, can this Lambert guy ever sing one song on American Idol where he doesn't scream like a banshee?
People either love him or hate him there's no in between. You either think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread or think he's a Broadway-bound over-the-top screamer. His version of "One" actually started out great for the first half and then he went into his usual screaming fit.
To me, the best song of the night was actually a song I hate, but the version was pretty damn impressive. Kris Allen took Kanye West's "Heartless" and did his own version, much like The Fray's cover:
\
As for Danny Gokey... yeah, he was good a few seasons ago when his hair had more grey and his name was Taylor Hicks. It should come down to Kris and Adam... and, sadly, Lambert will probably scream his way to the victory.
I'm really surprised that the judges have not once complained about his screaming in every song. There has not been one week that he hasn't screamed. Not one.
I'm not a fan of Justin Timberlake, but this skit from Saturday Night Live where he basically makes fun of himself was pretty damn funny:
If you didn't see it on Saturday Night Live this past weekend, there's a new video by Andy Samberg and Justin Timberlake... From the duo that brought you "Dick in a Box":
An interview with Miley Cyrus recently appeared on the British show Friday Night with Jonathan Ross and the teen star gets progressively distracted and, well, loopy as it goes on. It's not like a drug-addled mystery as much as she's probably just ADD.
My favorite part is around three minutes in where the host tells Cyrus her movie was definitely not his favorite of the year. More people probably need to knock her down off her pedestal from time to time she needs to get a stronger foot in reality.
\
So, I haven't said much about American Idol this season... probably because I haven't been impressed by any of the contestants on "America's Biggest Karaoke Contest."
It seems like they basically picked a winner in week one anyway as fans everywhere are fawning over the theatrical Adam Lambert.
Lambert has figured out the formula to winning the show:
- Do really well in week one
- Change up the arrangement of the song you are singing each week
- Judges will continue to love you and viewers will think you're amazing
- Rinse and repeat
However, if you look at his performances as a whole, they all start to sound the same. For example, the guy hasn't had one song where he didn't release that horrid, nails-on-a-chalkboard, '80s hair-metal scream. If you put his songs back to back they're all going to sound the same. Who's going to sit through a concert of him doing that for an hour and a half?
He also trashed some classic songs like "Ring of Fire." He'll probably win the whole thing as the viewers fall into line like sheep behind the judges who sing his praises with no criticism whatsoever.
My thoughts none of those remaining will have a huge career and Lambert will be better off on Broadway. After all, how many Idol contestants still have careers going strong? Out of eight seasons, it's down to Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Chris Daughtry...
Enjoy your 15 minutes, kids. The next time we see most of you it will be on next season's Idol singing your first single in an effort to jump-start a career that will fade fast, just as David Archuleta, David Cook and Ruben Studdard did this year.
Yep, we're a part of the Twitter bandwagon like most people these days, but comedian Andy Milonakis sums up the phenomenon quite nicely with his new song and video:
\
Last week on Britain's Got Talent, it was Susan Boyle, and now it's Shaheen Jafargholi:
\
Susan Boyle is proof you can't judge a book by its cover. Everyone thought this woman performing on "Britain's Got Talent" would be a trainwreck, but now her video is popping up all over the Internet.
\
Former 'Idol' winner will have a new series that documents her life as a singer and single mother. Shouldn't she first focus on getting people to buy her CDs and go to her concerts?
The show will premiere in 2010.
Kanye West posted an all-caps blog on his Web site commenting on the recent episode of South Park where he was made out to be a gay fish.
I expected him to be his usual pissed-off self, but he actually posted a clip of the show and seems to have taken it in good humor:
SOUTH PARK MURDERED ME LAST NIGHT AND IT'S PRETTY FUNNY. IT HURTS MY FEELINGS BUT WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT FROM SOUTH PARK! I ACTUALLY HAVE BEEN WORKING ON MY EGO THOUGH. HAVING THE CRAZY EGO IS PLAYED OUT AT THIS POINT IN MY LIFE AND CAREER. I USE TO USE IT TO BUILD UP MY ESTEEM WHEN NOBODY BELIEVED IN ME. NOW THAT PEOPLE DO BELIEVE AND SUPPORT MY MUSIC AND PRODUCTS THE BEST RESPONSE IS THANK YOU INSTEAD OF "I TOLD YOU SO!!!" IT'S COOL TO TALK SHIT WHEN YOU'RE RAPPING BUT NOT IN REAL LIFE. WHEN YOU MEET LITTLE WAYNE IN PERSON HE'S THE NICEST GUY FOR EXAMPLE. I JUST WANNA BE A DOPER PERSON WHICH STARTS WITH ME NOT ALWAYS TELLING PEOPLE HOW DOPE I THINK I AM. I NEED TO JUST GET PAST MYSELF. DROP THE BRAVADO AND JUST MAKE DOPE PRODUCT. EVERYTHING IS NOT THAT SERIOUS. AS LONG AS PEOPLE THINK I ACT LIKE A BITCH THIS TYPE OF SHIT WILL HAPPEN TO ME. I GOT A LONG ROAD AHEAD OF ME TO MAKE PEOPLE BELIEVE I'M NOT ACTUALLY A HUGE DOUCHE BUT I'M UP FOR THE CHALLENGE. I'M SURE THE WRITERS AT SOUTH PARK ARE REALLY NICE PEOPLE IN REAL LIFE. THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DRAW MY CREW. THAT WAS PRETTY FUNNY ALSO!! I'M SURE THERE'S GRAMMATICAL ERRORS IN THIS... THAT'S HOW YOU KNOW IT'S ME!
