When mom wants sex advice

Posted By on Mon, Mar 29, 2010 at 12:01 PM

Over the weekend, I decided to spend time with my mom.

We were having a good time, until she asked me a strange question.

"What can I do to spice up my love life?"

Really? My first thought was to ignore her question. I mean, this is mother and father. I don't even want to think about them having sex. (Shivering at the mental image)

Then I thought, what would Dan Savage do? He'd answer the question. Granted, I'm no Dan Savage. But Mom knows that I spend a good part of my day writing and thinking about sex. So, I decided to offer her some advice.

All long term relationships lose that luster some times. So, in order to keep things exciting, you have to think out of the box.

  1. Change the way you dress at least one night a week.  When your mate comes home on a Wednesday, have  on something that you'd never wear outside the house. A nice piece of lingerie is one way to spice things up. Open the door for your mate dressed in the sexiest lace and/or leather you have. The surprise will definitely turn up the heat.
  2. Date night is important. The day to day household things put the ice on a hot romance. So, once a week, it's good to go out -- even if it's just to a park--and talk about anything but household issues. Don't be afraid to get a little raunchy. Tell your mate what you want to do to them and show it with a light touch here or there.
  3. Make out like you're in high school. Remember when PDAs were fun and you had to make sure someone didn't catch you. It's even more exciting as an adult. Go to a movie that you have no interest in watching and make out for at least an hour and a half. Extra points if you can get some oral in without getting caught. Best place to sit is in the top of the theater.
  4. If you live at home without kids or roommates, why leave the love making to the bedroom. Take a weekend and make love in every room of the house and outside as well.

Here's hoping that my mother doesn't tell me how this worked for her. There are something I don't want to know.

The NFL sucks! Violence against women OK, fighting dogs bad

ben-roethlisberger-drunk-2

I used to be a fan of football. I loved watching men in tight pants knocking the shit out of each other.

That was until this story about Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger started gaining more yards than Emmitt Smith in his prime. I'm throwing a flag on the NFL. It took two accusations of sexual assault for the all-mighty commissioner Roger Goodell to request a sit down with Roethlisberger. He wasn't slow to move in the case of dog fighting when it came to Philly QB Michael Vick.

The manager of the club where Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is accused of having sexually assaulted a 20-year-old Georgia woman said Thursday one of the woman's friends told him a member of Roethlisberger's entourage had denied her entrance to the area leading to the bathroom where she believed the accuser and Roethlisberger were that night.

The accuser told police later that night Roethlisberger had assaulted her in the club's bathroom.

So, this is all right? Big football players can sexually assault women and expect no discipline from the NFL? Just don't fuck a woman against her will at a dog fight?

When Vick was accused of dog fighting, his punishment was swift. And we're talking dogs. Does the NFL mean to tell me that the league has more of a value on the life of a dog than a woman's right not to be sexually assaulted? And this isn't Roethlisberger's first trip down this road.

For the second time in a year, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is being accused of sexual misconduct. . .The case comes as Roethlisberger faces a lawsuit filed last July by a woman who says he raped her in 2008 at a Lake Tahoe hotel and casino, an allegation he strongly denies. Roethlisberger, who was not in custody, has not been criminally charged in either case and has claimed counter-damages in the lawsuit.

Look, where there are smoking panties, there is rape. Why is this being laughed off?

He is known for other stupid things too, according to ESPN:

he also is known for occasionally inelegant behavior in Pittsburgh. Early in his career, he was photographed wearing a T-shirt reading "Drink Like a Champion." Restaurant owners in Pittsburgh have complained he has tried to skip out on bills.

This guy has a problem and the NFL should lose female fans behind this.

Sex(ual harassment) and the City (council)

Posted By on Wed, Mar 24, 2010 at 3:13 PM

Charlotte isn't the first city to deal with sexual harassment allegations against an elected official.

From Los Angeles to New York, elected officials have been accused of acting inappropriately, so it seems that it was only a matter of time before Charlotte found itself in the middle of such a storm. For the Queen City, it all started with an e-mail from Mayor Anthony Foxx reminding council members not to sexually harass the staff.

Then the speculation began. Who did what? What did it all mean? Was there a complaint? But one thing is certain. The City of Charlotte doesn’t have a clear policy dealing with sexual harassment and elected officials.

According to a report from NewsChannel 36:

The city of Charlotte does have a formal policy against harassment for employees of City Manager Curt Walton, but elected officials are not considered city staff.

Other cities, smaller and larger than Charlotte have those policies. Take Bothell, Washington for example.

In this city of 30,000, it’s sexual harassment policy clearly lists council members.

Sexual harassment by an on-duty employee toward another employee, by an on-duty employee toward a non-employee (while involved in the transaction of City business) such as City customers, Councilmembers, board members, volunteers or vendors while involved in a legitimate business transaction is covered by and subject to enforcement under this policy. An on-duty employee's conduct of a sexual nature that is observed by, and offensive to, another employee, may also constitute sexual harassment. Sexual harassment toward an on-duty employee by a nonemployee such as City customers, Councilmembers, board members, volunteers or vendors should be reported to the supervisor or Department Head. The City will take appropriate action to protect its employees from sexual harassment by non-employees.

In Lawton, Oklahoma, if a city council member is accused of sexual harassment, the accuser makes a complaint to the mayor or mayor pro tem if the complaint is against the mayor.

Is Charlotte on it’s way to drafting a clear sexual harassment policy that includes elected officials? City Attorney Mac McCarley said while the city doesn't have a sexual harassment policy that mentions elected officials, Title 7 ,employment law, would be used for any issues involving the city.

But the topic of sexual harassment was being discussed by the city council at a budget meeting.

According to The Charlotte Observer:

Foxx wants to speed up the hiring of an outside investigator to probe allegations that a council member sexually harassed a city employee.

City Council had planned to discuss the issue April 12, but Foxx said Tuesday he will place it on the council's agenda in advance of today's budget workshop.

"Our agenda is full without an issue like this on the table," Foxx said. "We want to get it over as quickly as possible."

On March 14, Foxx sent an e-mail to all 11 council members telling them that "sexual harassment" of staff wouldn't be tolerated. The e-mail sparked intense speculation as to which council member it was directed at.

Three city officials, speaking on condition that they not be named, said the e-mail was in response to council member Warren Turner's behavior toward a female staff member.
