When you have to have something and nothing else will do, whats the word for that? Oh yeah, crave!
Tuesday I went to check out Crave, a new dessert bar located behind Cans. I was expecting overpriced cake and martinis; however, I was pleasantly surprised to find the contrary. As soon as I walked in, I saw a sign that read Bottomless Wine $15. Cheapo for a wino!
After playing a couple rounds of Connect Four (dont ask, they just brought it to us), I ordered one of their many cheesecakes Southern Pecan. Although $7.95 may seem like a lot to pay for cheesecake, the caramelized pecans and rich flavor made it more than worthy; its a splurge in taste more so than the wallet.
Each page of the menu offers something different. You could order a cheese plate for $8.95 to go with your wine, or choose from the variety of desserts ranging from cup cakes to crèmes, all priced at $7.95. They also have a full service bar and lists of martinis that either fall under Lust or Euphoria ranging from $11-$12.
So, as I relaxed on the couch and watched people enter the dimly lit gallery lit up by the glares of the street lights protruding through the curtain-less windows, I noticed a large hookah above the bar. Assuming a nonsmoking policy simply because no one was smoking I just had to ask about its purpose.
Although it is a non-smoking venue, there is no non-hookahing policy. The waitress informed the group that you can pay $20 and toke on one for as long as youre there. We ended up with one and stayed for about two-and-a-half hours.
On most Wednesdays and Thursdays, a live band will be set up in the cozy corner to your left as you enter. And though those nights do pretty well, TJ, one of the managers informed me that Fridays and Saturdays are their money making nights. With a DJ in one hand, cheesecake in another, and a pile of good people and fast service, Crave has more than plenty to throw at you all night.
Having opened roughly one month ago, Crave has already attracted regulars. So, if you havent had a chance to make it there yet, join them tonight for the Grand Opening Party even though its been open for four weeks already.
