Guys, I am about to impart some knowledge to you that will save both your dating life and your wallet. With this knowledge, you can quit acting like you enjoy being single because you can’t afford to date. I have a list of various date ideas that will not cost you more than $30 ... in total!
Movies ... although not a creative date, it's cheap.
Gem Theatre: 704-932-5111
Tickets are $4 per person, but if you get there before 6 p.m., tickets are only $3 and you can get a large drink, large popcorn , and some candy for $6 (vs. a regular box office where a small bag of M&Ms is $6).
Belmont Drive In: 704-825-6044
Tickets are a mere $4 a person (and this includes two blockbuster movies). The concessions here are like a mini diner, offering cheeseburgers, hotdogs, chicken nuggets, BBQ, corndogs, popcorn, candy and soda-and all reasonably priced. A cheeseburger all-the-way (southern style) is only $3.20!
And at the Badin Road Drive In (704-983-2900) tickets are a mere $5. Note how I keep suggesting drive-in theaters. Perhaps that'll increase your odds of making out.
NoDa Gallery Crawl: On certain days of the month there are free viewings of local art galleries in NoDa - most venues provide free wine and food even. You can go putt-putting for $4 a person at Paradise Valley Par 3, bumper boating for $6 a person at Zuma Fun Center, shows at live music venues can be as low as $5 a ticket, and you can find upper level tickets to a Bobcats game for as low as $10 a person.
As for dining, eating out for under $30 is not that difficult if you do your research ... and eat during happy hour specials. And with the economy in the condition it's in, restaurants are having to offer specials to help out their customers, such as Sticky Fingers two for $15 and Applebee’s two for $20.
Half off gift certificate: Creative Loafing offers half-off gift certificates to local restaurants. I bought a Common House gift card and ate $30 worth of food for $15. Cha-Ching.
These are just a few ideas on how to go on a cheap date without being a cheapskate. So fellas, no more excuses, get your ass up and take your girl out.
