There's a lot more than music at The Fillmore

... such as free beer! Last Monday, the nightlife industry was shaking down to Shinedown for the Miller Lite and Coors Light holiday party at The Fillmore.

The line to get into The Fillmore was wrapped around the N.C. Music Factory, and slowly tapering in… yet it didn’t seem like it was even crowded inside. Perhaps because the venue is massive and laid out perfectly for a live music venue — with a stage, dance floor, two side bars and a back lounge.

Sure, it was a Shinedown concert with a lot of rocking and rolling involved, but I was more interested in playing Wii with football pads acting as the game controller. I also played in fake snow, did the running man next to a go-go dancer … and went on a beer scavenger hunt.

Upon entry you were given a card with logos for six different types of beer — you then went on a sampling scavenger hunt, getting a stamp for each sample taken. After receiving six stamps you enter the card into a raffle to win free shit like iPods. … so, basically, you got rewarded for drinking beer. Now, that’s awesome.

I ended up losing the scavenger hunt — because I didn’t want to sample Miller Lite. I know what it tastes like — what I imagine kitten’s piss would taste like, but I don’t mind Miller’s 64 (because it tastes like water). But the best beer of all — right behind the draught Blue Moon with fancy cut citrus — was the really, really cool Coors Light. They tapped the Rockies with a draught tap that is chilled at 28 degrees! Even the actual tap is ice … which makes you want to literally tap the rockies. The beer was even colder than it was outside.

And at the end of the night they gave everyone a voucher for a discounted cab. We know not to drink and drive … but I wish someone would warn others about drinking and dancing. Note: Drinking does not give you rhythm, you just think it does … in fact, it impairs your motor skills and coordination to make you worse than you are sober.

There are many more shows coming up at The Fillmore - and might I suggest checking one out... so you can check out the venue!

Who wore it best? The Miller Lite girls … or the Coors Light girls?
