As usual, I've been reading an ass-load of comic books lately -- more than I have room to review in this small space on a weekly basis. So, once again, in an effort to cover as many titles as possible, I've decided to devote this column space to a few bite-sized comic reviews. Check, check it out:
Captain Britain and MI13 No. 11: OK, I'm a little late to jump on the MI13 bandwagon, but I'm all in now. This comic is a perfect balance of cool character beats with over-the-top action. Plus, the dialogue, courtesy of writer Chris Cornell, is entertaining as hell. Oh, and the art by the highly overlooked Leonard Kirk is smooth and pretty.
Action Comics No. 875: This issue promised a big reveal regarding the identities of the new Flamebird and Nightwing characters. (OK, you might be thinking, "Who?!") But the big reveal turned out to be a duo I've never seen before -- so it wasn't "big" at all. (If I'm missing something, please shoot me an e-mail.) The art by Eddy Barrows, however, is detailed and powerful; I think Barrows is on his way to being the next "hot" penciller.
Titans No. 11: Just awful. Somebody save this comic!
Guardians of the Galaxy No. 11: Somebody buy this comic! It never fails to entertain. (Also, I just noticed that three comics I reviewed this week have an issue number of 11. Spooky.)
Savior 28 No. 1: Haven't I read this comic book before? The art is interesting, but the Watchmen-esque story makes me wonder if the industry is running out of ideas.
Batman: Battle for the Cowl No. 1: Haven't I read this comic before? Yeah. I hated it when it was called Knightfall. Just call me when Bruce Wayne comes back from the "dead."
