Van M & Tonic

Ever since Sasha and Digweed chose him to open their residency in New York's Twilo in the late 90s, Jimmy Van M (born Jimmy van Malleghem) has been a progressive DJ on the fast track. As a young Orlando DJ, he made guest appearances with name acts such as the like-minded Kimball Collins. As he began to receive more attention, Van M decided to take matters into his own hands and formed Balance Promote Group, a DJ booking agency whose focus was booking tours and individual dates for some of Europe's top trance DJs.

Through these connections, Van M's career began to take off -- literally. In the past couple of years, Van M has played Prague, Tokyo, Ibiza, London, Moscow, Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Santiago, and Melbourne and Sydney Australia, to name quite a few.

In mid-2000, the popular Ministry of Sound released Trance Nation America, a smash hit prominently featuring the work of Van M. Around this same time, Van M's production work began to appear on numerous mix CDs, including Sasha and Digweed's hugely popular Communicate album.

Van M has since released his own disc, Bedrock, on John Digweed's label, and has moved permanently from Florida to a home base of New York City. This isn't his first pass through our fair city, but a visit on All Hallows Eve, one of the most popular "going out" nights of the year, is a pretty cool thing indeed. And why not? If you're gonna get put into a trance this Halloween, Van M's just the man to do it.
