No wine drinker left behind

Posted By on Tue, Jan 19, 2010 at 11:46 AM

The Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend, a biennial event established in 1989 and held in even years, includes parties – both formal and casual, an auction, wine tastings, and vintner dinners. New in 2010 is a policy of inclusion. In past years, events and dinners sold out quickly - many the day of the release or even before. This year, however, the Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend organization will try “not to shut out” people who want to go to an event.

For the 21 Vintner Dinners, area restaurants are paired with a winery – and for the first time, breweries. Winemakers and/or winery and brewery owners will be on hand to discuss their wines, or beers. Prices range from $65 per person for the brewery dinner to $175 per person wine dinner, with price points in between. Tickets go on sale Monday, January 25th. 704-338-9463 or www.charlottewineandfood.org.

Some events during the 2010 Charlotte Wine & Food Weekend:

Thursday, April 22 at 6:30 p.m. Vintner Dinners. $65 to $175 per person (all inclusive).

Friday, April 23 at 7 p.m. Big Bottles & Blues, a casual event at the Gateway Center Promenade. $90 per person.

Saturday, April 24 at 10 a.m. Pinot Wine Tasting with four vintners at the Ritz-Carlton. $75.
