Tryon Street News

On the south side of the square, the line was out the door during lunch at the newly opened mini Amelie’s, a French Bakery and Cafe , 330 South Tryon. This is Amelie's second store.

To the north, Cassie Parson, co-owner of Grateful Growers Farm, operator of one of Charlotte’s favorite food trucks, and one of the most fervent supporters of local foods, will open Harvest Moon Grille in the space now occupied by Monticello Restaurant. The Monticello will close after service on Tuesday, September 7. Ironically when Monticello opened in 1991 it was the first restaurant in Charlotte dedicated to locally sourced foods (and California wines) when restaurateur Pierre Bader and Chef Scott Howell were there. Both left that enterprise in the early 1990’s. Howell went on to open several restaurants on the eastern side of the state including Nana’s in Durham in 1992. It’s all new again.
