SouthPark Eats Alternatives takes food to the streets for spring kickoff

The food trucks are back full swing in SouthPark, and the sun is out full force (well, kind of). Hello spring.

Southpark Eats Alternative, Charlotte’s local food truck rally at Fairview Plaza every Wednesday, will be hosting its Spring Kickoff this Wednesday, March 11, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

So what’s the big deal? Well, S.E.A. is now boasting a lineup of six food trucks compared to the previous two trucks that braved the winter.

On the line-up for this week are some local favorites, including Tin Kitchen, Papi Queso, Ooowee BBQ, Maki Taco and Cupcake Delirium, to name a few.

Plus, King of Pops is back too. Tomorrow’s upper 70s weather and the contagious spring fever going around are the perfect combination to try an icy treat, and not one that resembles Elsa’s big freeze.

But, the kickoff isn’t all about food. S.E.A is also hosting Miles Against Melanoma onsite for sign-ups for its charity race, which will be taking place on April 25 at the Arboretum. S.E.A. is a co-sponsor of the race, too.

S.E.A.’s food truck rallies are only about a year old, and Tabitha Flythe of the event’s sponsor, American Asset Corporation, shares the insight behind the community endeavor.

“We noticed that there was a need for a permanent home for our local, Charlotte food trucks, especially last year when the city ordinances for where food trucks were allowed to park and operate were ‘sticky’ to say the least,” Flythe says.

The permanent, one-stop-shop location for good quick food would certainly entice a Charlotte newbie, like myself, to try out S.E.A. ‘s lunch alternative.

Also according to Flythe, “SouthPark has a variety of wonderful sit-down locations to grab lunch, but has limited ‘grab-and-go’ options, so we thought why not bring them to Fairview Plaza and provide a variety of fantastic local trucks to our tenants, and the surrounding SouthPark community?”

If you’re itching for some variation in your lunch routine, leave the office and soak up some vitamin D this Wednesday at S.E.A.’s fully loaded food truck rally.
