So, I'm sure there are people out there who can still throw their money out the window and wave goodbye to it without so much as a second thought. For you folks, you'll be interested in checking this out. For the rest of us, I'm posting this for the WTF factor.
French fashion designer Jean Paul Gaultier has designed the 2009 Limited Edition Bottle for Evian. Yeah, Evian WATER.
The WTF comes after this sentence ... are you ready for it?
Each bottle of WATER costs $13.95. A case of 12 bottles costs $118.
Yeah, I'm just gonna leave you to marinate on that.
OK, I'll admit it. I ended up buying the blue shoes. Sue me.
These flats are from Naughty Monkey, and the funky designs definitely help play up an outfit. Business casual from the top, party-hardy from the bottom. AND ... the inside sole is GREEN.
This particular shoe was found at Off Broadway Shoe Warehouse in the Galleria Shopping Center. With tax, I paid about $70.

Continuing on my recent conversation with Arlene Goldstein, the vice president of trend merchandising and fashion direction at Belk, here's the second part of my two-part series on what to look for this spring in all fashionable hotness.
According to Goldstein, the color for spring is WHITE. It's a simple, classy look for men and women.
But if your clumsiness makes you avoid wearing white, you can check out the PANTONE fashion color report for spring 2009 by clicking here. Prominent colors are fuchsia red, slate gray, palace blue and lavender.
Culture Picks are items reviewed by CL critics that you may ,uh, actually want to shop for.
Here's a selection of DVDs reviewed by film critic Matt Brunson in this week's View From The Couch. Click the link for full reviews.

Now that I'm back in the office after burning up the road to D.C. for a trip that didn't go exactly as planned (read about it here: Straight From D.C. to the Q.C.) I can take the time again to peruse random fashion and shopping blogs. What were people saying about fashion on Inauguration Day? It's a tired story now: What did Michelle Obama wear? The pretty greenish-goldish-yellowish ensemble from lesser known Isabel Toledo for the swearing-in ceremony and a one-shouldered, off-white gown from Jason Wu for the evening extravagancies. Blah, blah, blah.
Then of course there was Aretha Franklin's hat. I have to admit, it did kind of steal the show.
But what about the millions of people who crowded the Mall and the city's streets, though? What were they wearing?
I'll tell you what they were wearing: Anything to keep them warm, and anything with Obama on it.
This week in our series of interviews with local stylists in Charlotte, check out a Q&A with Christy Ward, co-owner of Black & Blue and a jewelry maker.
Creative Loafing: So tell us a little about yourself.
Christy Ward: Well, I have a fashion merchandising retail degree from the University of Alabama. While I was there I actually had to do an internship with Womens Wear Daily. I had the opportunity to do that, and I was the assistant stylist. I pretty much kept track of everything that came in for photo shoots as far as speaking with vendors, designers, getting stuff, you know, merchandise. Worked with models and went to different boutiques there and picked out what the photographers wanted or what they were doing the stories on.
Now I work here [Black & Blue].
I also make jewelry. I like to go for unique and eclectic things like pendants, or make different things. Amethyst, Black Onyx, and um, coral beads. Things like that. Its like my outlet for being creative so I can be myself.
So currently you're a buyer for Black & Blue?
Yeah, and then you know, we style. We had a fashion show, and we styled that. And a lot of customers, they want to know what is in style now and we kind of have to style them and help them out as well.
What do you think is hot for spring?
Hot, for spring? Definitely bold colors, a lot of color. Floral, anything floral. Chunky bracelets are definitely a big hit for spring. The strappy sandals. Ankle jeans, skinny ankle jeans. Um, a nice blouse is always in style. Anything thats kind of edgy, but still feminine at the same time, I think is always in style.
Where do you get your own clothes from?
Of course, Black & Blue. The Pink Hanger is another boutique I like to shop at. I know it seems cliché, but Express sometimes has good stuff.
Black & Blue is located at 720 Governor Morrison St., Suite E-180. You can call the shop at 704-366-9339.
Circa, a trendy women's boutique started by mother-daughter duo Shannon and Ashley in 2006, has all new merchandise on sale at 20 percent off. In addition, their sale items are priced at 50-75 percent off. The boutique has a selection of dresses, tops, sweaters, jackets and basics from brand names such as Kensie and Free People.
