Neiman Marcus at Southpark hosted its Fashion Rules party last night. While attendees sat sipping champagne, they also slobbered over fresh spring trends from Chanel, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch and Louboutin, among all the other fashion greats that Neiman Marcus is home to. The general consensus of the evening could be summed up with one reaction: Why, yes, fashion does rule.
If you needed a reminder on whats in this spring, this was the event to attend. Shades of coral continued to stream down the runway, with pops of turquoise also present. Prints and florals were also popular, with delicate shades of purple, blue and yellow. Another big trend this spring? Its white, of course ... and, its from head to toe. Now, thats a no-brainer. Slip on some fitted white jeans, a flowy white blouse and complete the look with a pair of white wedges (or bone-colored shoes), and youll be sure to secure yourself a spot in the circle of fashion trust.
One look that I hadnt seen and would have preferred not to was the color-contrasting trend. What do you think about a bright coral blouse paired with hot pink pants? Terrible? I think so, too.
The guest of honor last night was Cookie Johnson, wife of Magic Johnson. She introduced her cool denim line, CJ by Cookie Johnson, available at Neiman Marcus. Her frustration with the fit of premium denim companies was the cause of this fashion revelation. Well, whats a women to do when she cant find the perfect pair of jeans? Thats right, Cookie decided to start her own denim line for women with real bodies. The line offers jeans, in all styles and colors, with a fitted waist and a little extra room in the thighs and behind. The models were proof that Cookies designs give some ladies a little somethin extra and help others to tone down what their momma gave them.
If you missed out on the Fashion Rules party, make sure to RSVP to the next Neiman Marcus event. Its free, fashionable, and fabulous! What else could you ask for? (OK, yes a pair of Louboutin pumps would do a girl can always dream!)
